SEARCA Graduate Scholarships 2024. SEARCA’s Graduate Study Program began in School Year 1968/1969, and over the last five decades, it has expanded to encompass institutional development, networking, and services aimed at enhancing graduate education in the region.

Throughout the years, SEARCA has maintained valuable partnerships with international education networks and actively fosters new collaborations with industries and government agencies.

SEARCA Graduate Scholarships General Eligibility

SEARCA Graduate Scholarships applies a set of general eligibility criteria across all full degree scholarships unless otherwise specified under a specific scholarship program:

  • Open to nationals of SEAMEO member countries who are regular employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies.
  • Age must not exceed 35 (for Master’s Degree) or 40 (for PhD) at the time of application.
  • Scholarship applicants must pursue areas of specialization in agriculture or related sciences. Refer to joint scholarship programs to determine eligible degrees for support.
  • Proposed thesis research should focus on SEARCA’s overarching theme of “Accelerating Transformation Through Agricultural Innovation” (ATTAIN) with the following priority areas:
    • Agri-Business Models for Increased Productivity and Income
    • Sustainable Farming Systems and Natural Resource Management
    • Food and Nutrition Security
    • Transformational Leadership for Agricultural and Rural Development (ARD)
    • Gender and Youth Engagement in ARD
    • Enhanced ARD towards Climate Resilience
    • EcoHealth/One Health Applications to ARD

SEARCA Graduate Scholarships Benefits

For joint scholarships, SEARCA and the funding agency/institution share the benefits granted to scholars, which include but are not limited to:

  • Tuition and other school fees
  • Travel allowance
  • Thesis/dissertation support
  • Book and supplies allowance
  • Health insurance
  • Stipend for food, lodging, and incidental expenses

For the PhD Research Scholarship, SEARCA provides a maximum support of USD 4,500 for research purposes.

Application Procedure

Applicants must complete the SEARCA Graduate Scholarships application form online and upload all required documents in English:

  1. Letter of application for the research scholarship addressed to the SEARCA Director.
  2. Official endorsement from the employer (if employed).
  3. Recommendation letter from the Dean of Graduate School of the university where the applicant is pursuing the degree program.
  4. Dissertation research outline/proposal approved by the Advisory Committee and Dean of Graduate School.
  5. Budgetary requirement for the entire research, duly attested and recommended by the major adviser and Dean of Graduate School.
  6. True copy of grades for courses taken, certified by the Graduate School.
  7. Letter from the applicant certifying that they are not receiving any other research grant from any other institution. If partial funding has been obtained from other sources, the applicant must submit a certification from the funding agency indicating the grant amount and items covered, along with proof that there will be no conflict with the funding agency when applying for another funding/scholarship.
  8. Research timetable indicating the activities involved in the research and the expected date of defense, which should not exceed one year.
